I’ve been blogging online since 2011 and there’s been a few things I have learned during that time.
There is basically 3 things you can use a blog to build your business online.
So here we go…
People love to consume content from places like Google, Facebook, and Twitter. But, there are some things you should do to optimize your blog for lead generation purposes.
The goal should be when people visit your blog, they basically have two options… Consume content, or opt in and that’s it!
Any more than that, and you risk losing a lead…
Now, don’t make the mistake of having too many options for people. This can confuse your visitors. When you put your blog together, you want to focus on clean and simple. Add a opt in form to the sidebar, and a capture page at the end of your blog posts.
This is my favorite reason because this really helps to build your personal brand online.
Having a good About Me page can help connect with your visitors, and establish yourself as a professional. Imagine being able to connect with your visitor and allow them to scan your site and get to know you and your skills?
That’s the power of owning a blog, and this can create an authority like feeling for your prospects.
I even know of a blogger who had a horrible looking blog in the beginning but still managed to generate million dollars in their first year!
Seriously its true, and if you leave a comment below I might even tell you who it is.. 😉
Central Business Hub
Most businesses have a central hub or company headquarters right? Well, a blog is like the same thing expect it’s online.
You want an all-in-one place to showcase your value to the world.
Do you promote affiliate offers? Do you sell your own products? Do you promote a business opportunity? A blog is the perfect place for this.
If you get into the habit of creating regular content that provides value (which is not hard) people will look around your blog and stumble on the offers and information you have posted.
This is really a powerful thing indeed.
You draw people in with the value, and allow them to decide when the time is right for them? This works incredibly well, and your prospects and visitors don’t feel pressured at all.
Another thing is, people will Google your name to find out who you are?
Look at these stats… 100 – 1k searches every month for my name.
So as you can see, having a blog is something you really should have if you’re going to market online for the long-term.
When you understand completely that a blog serves for lead generation, branding, and a central hub you’ll be well on your way to online success.
